Frequently Asked Questions
Have some questions? Our FAQs should help you. If you have another question please feel free to contact us.
What is builders skip hire?
This is the service name for the renting of a large outdoor bin container that is used to hold business waste. There are many different types of skips for builders and the main difference is usually the size rather than its form factor. But there are some exceptions such as the roll-on-roll-off skips.
This skip hire enables you to get rid of your business waste if you produce a lot of it in a short period of time without you having to renegotiate your waste collection contract for bigger bins or more frequent collections.
What Isn't allowed in a builders skip?
Can these skips be used for large volumes of waste?
Construction sites produce large volumes of waste. We have the facilities designed to effectively and correctly dispose of a number of wastes generated from sites including cardboard, wood, soil, hard core, plasterboard, metal, plastics, green waste and mixed general waste.
These skips can be provided for source segregation or mixed wastes. Mixed wastes are sorted through our state-of-the-art recycling centre where we divert over 95% of waste that passes through away from landfills.
What is the largest skip you can hire?
Our largest builders skip is the 35-yard roll on roll off skip. This is ideal for large-volume builders’ waste producers and large-scale construction operations. 35-yard skips are perfectly suited to the disposal of large quantities of light, bulky waste, but they can also accommodate heavier materials.
How much room do the lorries need for access?
All our skips are delivered on large, heavy vehicles. We usually need a minimum 3m clearance width for the lorry to access. We can however put the skips down in a smaller space as the lifting mechanisms give us the ability to squeeze the skip into slighter spaces. We may ask you to sign a disclaimer if there are items around that might get in the way.
How long can I keep a builders skip for?
You can keep your skip as long as you require but the typical period is between one and fourteen days. You’ll need to weigh up the needs of your project against your budget requirements. If your skip is on the road, you will need to check the length of time covered by your permit, as this will likely dictate how long you can keep it.
How do I arrange for the skip to be emptied?
When you are ready to have your skip collected to be emptied, just give us a call or email us, and we will arrange it. Please, give us at least 24 hours’ notice.
